Public Organization “Women of East” registered May 18, 1995 in the Soghd oblast Department of Justice, RT. Registration № 36. Referred to as Tajikistan Branch of International Environmental Organization “Women of East”. In December 2007, organization has been reregistered in the Ministry of Justice of RT, called Public Organization “Women of East”. Registration number 457 “A”. The organization implemented above 50 socially important projects aimed at protecting the rights and interests of women, improving their status in the family and the society, supported business development during the reporting period.

Brief description of the organization and services offered

 

 

The Organization is founded in April, 1998 by two young men, to address problems related to treatment of drug addicts and providing possible psychological and social assistance to drug addicts. First steps of the group were independent activities aimed at providing possible assistance to young drug addicts. Later, drug users’ social rehabilitation system development and introduction program based on the international experience and local peculiarities in Tajikistan have been worked out. This experience provided the basis for currently functional system of social rehabilitation. In March 2000, spearheaded by the leaders of informal group, LLC “DN” have been created and registered in Oblast Department of Justice in Khujand. Tasks of the LLC “DN” included establishment of center for drug addicts and providing high-quality medical and social assistance to drug users and their families. In 2001, based on the LLC “DN”, Youth Center for prevention and rehabilitation “DINA” have been established. In November 2004, YCPR “DINA” have been re-registered in Soghd oblast Department of Justice and got the status of Public Association. The organization has been re-registered in August 2007 and currently represented as Soghd Local Community Organization “DINA”

Direct service users: IDU (injective drug users), SW – Sex workers, PLHIV – people living with HIV, FP –former prisoners

Beneficiaries: vulnerable women, vulnerable youth, general population.

Currently the organization is implementing few preventive programs in 4 projects: Harm Reduction Program (distribution of syringes and needles, condoms, NОМ, sterile instruments, mini-sessions, counseling services) “Social attendance” Program, Social attendance on HIV prevention, re-referral to profile specialists, incentivizing and educational work, “HIV and TB dialogues”. Work with IDU on “Break the circle” model.

The followings are established and functional under the organization: Confidential counseling point, Mobile syringe exchange point, Social bureau, Center for affordable services. Their activity is focused at providing access for prisoners to healthcare, social, legal and preventive services. 1995 is an official birth date of Association of Scientific and Technical Intelligence (ANTI). It has strategic document which selected poverty alleviation in the region as main business priority. There are two program subdivisions, established by ANTI – Development Processes Support Agency Nau (APPR Nau) and Development Processes Support Agency Khujand (APPR Khujand), registered as independent organizations and started their independent activity. ANTI participated in establishment and coordinating activity of Fergana valley NGO Network “Peace valley”.  Association of Scientific and Technical Intelligence is registered as Republican/National public association. The organization has Micro-Loan Fund “ASTI”. АНТИ established and facilitates the activity of PRS (poverty reduction strategy) Monitoring Public Support Group. АНТИ participates in establishing and developing an Association of Adult Education of Tajikistan

“ANTI” is a founder of youth public organization “Youth development initiatives”, established in 2009.

Association of young laywers “Amparo” is founded in 2005 by young laywers of Soghd oblast.

The main objectives of the Association include

The Project is implemented jointly with Bureau on Human Rights and Rule of Law.

“Monitoring of observing human rights during 2007 fall conscription for military service”

“Monitoring 2007 cotton-picking campaign”, “Young human rights defenders school”

“Rights of conscript personnel in the Republic of Tajikistan”, “Studying human rights”, “Facilitating observance of human rights during the conscription campaign for military service”, “Counteracting human trafficking in Central Asia”, “Freedom of speech”. The Project is aimed at training future journalists and lawyers on court mechanisms of protecting freedom to speech.

Youth Group on Environment Protection (YGEP) is public, noncommercial youth environmental organization, acting since October, 2000

The organization works in the frames of 3 program areas:

-“Green patrol” Program;
- Information Ecological "Orkhuss - Center";
- “Emergency preparedness and climate change adaptation” Project
