Brief description of the organization and services offered



Year of establishment, target group, services and other

  • PO “Rushd” is established in January 2000, officially registered on 12 March 2002 (registration number 137), and reregistered on 13 December 2007 (registration number 76А);
  • The target groups are: the entire population of Khatlon Oblast depending on their level of legal vulnerability and relationship to certain political events, organization of civil society, including of political parties, journalists and government authorities;
  • PO “Rushd” provides educational activities, mobilization of community in addressing of local issues, advocacy campaigns (protection of interests of certain groups of population), analytical research (Think Tank activities) in order to influence to the policy, provision of consultations to the population and organization of civil society on the subject;
  • PO “Rushd” staff enhanced their knowledge and skills by participating in many national and international trainings and courses on human rights, democracy, and therefore demanded as at national level as well as at international level.
  • Two staff of the organization on a regular basis carries out the international observation of elections on behalf of OSCE and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs.

1. Implemented

  • 2000. Pre-election forum involving candidates for the national parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan;
  • August-December 2002. Community mobilization of Navjuvon village of Bokhtar District in installation of standard electricity lines;
  • January-March 2003. Community mobilization of Kyzylbairak of Bokhtar District for the construction of gravel road in the community;
  • January 2003. Research “Determination of the economic situation of divorced women”;
  • June-August 2004. Research a) “Determination of gender awareness among population of Khatlon District”; b) “Determination of political awareness of youth voting for the first time;
  • 2005-2006. Advocacy Campaign “Property rights of divorced women”;
  • 2006. Project “Conscious participation of citizens in elections”;
  • 2006-2007. Community mobilization of Klopzavod of Kurgan Tyube city to connect the microdistrict to water sewage facility;
  • 2007. “Legal support for divorced women”;
  • 2007. Analytical research “Accountability of the Government of Tajikistan to the population”;
  • 2008. Analytical research “Health Services in Tajikistan: free or paid?”;
  • 2008-2009. “Strengthening capacity of political parties of Khatlon Oblast on internal election observation”;
  • 2009-2010. Analytical research “Tajikistan: Attempt to reduce poverty through legislation”.

2. Ongoing

  • Presentation of results  of the visit to the U.S. under the project "Promotion of primary and secondary education for girls”;
  • Analytical research on “Energy disputes between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, and its negative impact on regional cooperation”;
  • Project “Promoting rural development by strengthening of capacity of local civil society organizations”.

  • Project “Gender inequality and its effect on men”;
  • Project “Involvement of children in decision making process”;
  • Project “Ensuring accountability of deputies to the voter”.

4. Participation in other projects

As a partner and experts, the staff of PO “Rushd” participated in implementation of dozen projects, implemented by national NGOs and international organizations and INGOs such as UNTOP, UN Peace University in Costa Rica, UNFAO, OSCE, Swiss Institute for Small Arms, British NGO “Allavida”, Mercy Corp and etc.
